The MaiMeri Blu Watercolour range contains some of the most fabulous earth colours and unnusual natural pigments such as dragons blood which is the sap of a tree that grows on islands in the Gulf of Arabia. Maimeri Blu Artist Watercolours are still made by hand in Italy and are one of the best watercolours available in art supplies. Inspired 80 years ago by Italian impressionist artist Gianni Maimeri who wanted nothing more than to satisfy his own painting needs.

Maimeri Blu watercolours to this day are still incomparable to any other watercolour paint on the market. Each of the 90 colours in the range is highly concentrated, light fast and 52 of the colours contain only single pigments bound with the highest quality gum Arabic and distilled water. Maimeri watercolour can not be compared to any other brand, each colour is vibrant and remains so even when the paint has dried. Available in 12ml tubes, they are the only watercolour that has an extensive range of transparent, semi-transparent and opaque colours, this is clearly indicated on each tube label. Maimeri’s are a traditional watercolour paint that have stood the test of time and have easily transcended into the art supplies of many modern painters. Because of the high pure pigment in each tube, colours can be mixed easily and will not muddy. Maimeri Blu watercolour paints are known to retain their clarity on most surfaces but if you are looking for a good quality water colour paper to splash some Maimeri on, 100% cotton rag papers are the best and if you don’t want something to buckle a 300gsm Arches, Fabriano or Masters Choice is what a true professional would use. For a modern look Holbein watercolours are intermixable and also adhere and keep their brilliancy on Japanese synthetic watercolour paper known as Yupo Paper.          

Maimeri have removed all cadmium and cobalt based colours and reduced other toxic elements of their paint, giving painters environmentally conscious watercolour paint that is designed for professional artists.
