Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colours are discounted at The PaintBox. THese beautiful oil paints are made by a family business originally established in 1830, now managed by Laurence and Bruno Charvin.  Charvin oil colours are developed from traditional formulas made for artists for over almost two centuries for artists and focus on a constant concern for producing high standard materials.

The Charvin range of extra-fine oil colours may be used for traditional scumble and glazed and Flemish-style painting techniques with the addition of various mediums. What is more, due to their rich texture they are suitable for raised, somewhat thickened painting, and above all for Plein Air painting. The manufacturing process for Charvin oil colours is based on ancient recipes (established in 1830) that made it possible to make oil colours for such artists as Monet, Cezanne, Bonnard, and Ambrogiani.

Permanent and light-fast, Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colours are designed to accurately reflect the hues of nature, making them ideal for plein-air painting. The smooth and creamy texture lends itself perfectly to alla prima painting, yet the high pigment concentration also allows paint to be thinned down to the most subtle and luminous glazes(as with any Poppy Oil based paint, remember to follow the fat over lean method of painting).

Based on over 175 years of experience, Charvin has created a high quality oil paint at an extremely reasonable price point. Charvin Extra Fine Professional Oil Paints use a combination of the finest in traditional and modern pigments, bound with a blend of linseed and non-yellowing poppy oils, for a smooth, creamy consistency and vibrant colour.

Using only the highest grade pigments that are triple-milled to the finest particle size, Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colours span a naturally progressing colour range from the subtlest shades to brilliant hues. The main binding ingredient in Charvin Extra Fine oils is poppy oil, which dries slower than linseed oil and provides a rich creaminess to the paint. Charvin uses innovative Swiss tricylinders from Buhler, machines that are usually used in the manufacture of top-of-the-range cosmetics such as Estee Lauder.
