Shipping Policy
The PaintBox ships art supplies all over Australia and New Zealand for a flat rate shipping fee of $12.50, excluding bulky items and oversize or dangerous goods, see below.
The shipping dimensions and weights of most of our online orders meet the pre-requisites of our preferred logistics supplier, Australia Post and charges for either Parcel or Express Post options. Some items that you may purchase, can exceed the dimensions and weight limits for Australia Post and in these cases our preferred logistics provider is Toll Ipec Australia.
When parcels exceed the pre-requisites for Toll Ipec, surcharges from the logistics supplier will apply for the following:
- Oversize or Dangerous Goods items. A minimum surcharge of $50 will apply when a Dangerous Goods Classified item is to be shipped. These products are identified clearly in the description of applicable products on our website. When present in your order the surcharge is applied at checkout. If you would like to ship these items we recommend adding other products to make the shipping expense of he Dangerous Goods item worthwhile.
- Bulky or Long items over 150cm (such as rolls of linen, stretched canvases or oversize paper) will incur a minimum surcharge of $65 when these items are shipped. When present in your order the surcharge is applied at checkout. As with Dangerous Goods we recommend adding other products to make the shipping expense of the Bulky items worthwhile.
Prior to shipping Dangerous Goods and Bulky Items we will obtain a quote from our logistics provider for shipping. Although rare, when our online shipping calculator results in charges that are significantly less due to surcharges applied by Logistics suppliers you will be contacted by one of our staff to discuss how best to proceed regarding these extra freight charges. Your order will be shipped once the extra payment is received or arrangements made. If you choose to cancel the item causing the surcharges this can be arranged also.
We make every effort to make shipping, cost effective for our customers, however and in recent times charges levied by logistics companies have become considerable. We are always reviewing these costs with the goal of reducing the cost to our customers.
PACKING OF FRAGILE ITEMS
Paper is a fragile product and our goal is to ensure it arrives to you safely. Extra packing will be used to ship it safely and although we do not charge for this, there may be an increase in logistics charges. We recommend that you consider purchasing a minimum of 5 sheets or pack quantities to both save on purchase price and shipping charges.

ART MENTORING
2.5 hours from 10.00am to 12.30pm regularly on Thursday, Friday and Saturday Mornings and Wednesday Mornings when available. 8 students maximum.
Bring in your art project and materials or choose a studio project and work with the assistance of an artist in a friendly studio setting. Tables and table easels are available or you may book a standing easel. Oils, acrylics, watercolour, multimedia, drawing and collage. Kits available to hire or purchase.
IMPROMPTU ART EXPERIENCES
Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons, and Wednesday afternoons where available.
Impromptu Art experiences are the perfect way to create with friends or simply get lost in your own creativity. These sessions are fully self-guided and PaintBox staff members are available to assist if you get stuck. We also have art books, art objects and fresh flowers to keep you inspired. Grab a kit and head to the studio or plein air sessions in our garden when available (subject to wedding bookings). Allow between 30 minutes to two hours, as is your preference in the given time slot.
STUDIO PASS
Available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays subject to prior bookings.Sessions times in the morning 10am till 1pm; in the afternoon 2pm to 5pm and the evening from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm.
Our studio is available at a concessional rate for homework and project bookings enrolled full time art students of ACSA and University SA. Shared studio capacity six persons.
LARGE CANVAS PAINTING

Go Big or Go Home! Join us for an afternoon or evening of large canvas painting at The PaintBox in Thieles Shop and create your new favourite piece of art for your home. It’s time to finally fill the empty spot above your sofa with something you love - email us reference photos of art you’re inspired by and if suitable and we can pre sketch it onto your canvas for you so you’re not starting from scratch. Additional daytime studio passes are available to purchase if you need extra time. No experience necessary, each ticket includes all supplies and admission for 2 people to paint 1 canvas (coming solo is more than ok!). After you paint your piece, leave it with us for framing. At the end of the next week, it’s ready for you. We can deliver it for a small fee if you can’t take it home yourself! The large and larger both fit in a large car or wagon but the largest had to be transported in a moving van or truck.

PAINT & SIP
2.5-hour sessions by arrangement, minimum booking 6 persons or surcharge, maximum 18 persons.
Choose from a wide variety of projects and themes tailored to your event in our friendly and professional studios. Complementary bubbles or non-alcoholic spritzer on arrival.

Teenagers to adults, no unaccompanied children under the age of 16. For complex work see private tuition above. Cancellations less than three weeks from bookings are not refundable other than by way of store credit. Please refer to our cancellation policy for terms and conditions. Refreshments and light meals available from our in house cafe.
