Michael Harding Portuguese Maritime Turpentine is a colourless solvent distilled from pine sap. It is used to thin oil paint and to clean various printmaking tools of oil-based ink. Michael Harding use this genuine Portuguese Maritime Turpentine to produce their oil mediums. It generally speeds the drying time of oil paint, and thus is especially useful for underpainting. Paints mixed with this Turpentine will dry slightly matte. If you are familiar with the Adelaide Hills you will have seen the massive intensely dark, frequently misshapen, maritime pines that dominate the landscape. Erroneously referred to as radiata pines, it is this mediterranean species from which the sap is harvested.

Turpentine is a volatile and toxic material; please exercise due caution when using this product.
