Description
Winsor & Newton Lifting Preparation for watercolours allows you to remove dry watercolour from paper easily, even the most staining colours can be lifted with a wet brush or cloth if you use Lifting Preparation. After preparing half of the paper with Lifting Preparation and leaving the other half untreated, a swatch of Permanent Alizarin Crimson and Winsor Violet is painted on both sides. Once dry, using a wet brush, we attempt to remove the colour from the untreated paper, but it is unsuccessful. Then, using a wet brush on the colour which was painted on the area treated with Lifting Preparation, the colour dissolves and begins to come off the paper, ready to be blotted away with a cloth. You can repeat this process until the desired amount of colour has been removed. Since Lifting Preparation does not make watercolour more soluble, so you can use it freely without worrying that it will muddy your layers of washes.
