Daniel Smith’s Raw Umber Violet is made by mixing raw umber with quinacridone violet. This rich, deep maroon produces clear, deep glazes and has a purple undertone valuable for shadows. Raw Umber Violet is a wonderful mixer, quickly darkening other colours, and adding some warmth. Try it as an underpainting colour when blocking in for landscape or portraits.
