Description
1st quality, Archival grade.
Can be dissolved with turpentine to make a clear varnish. Mainly used by restorers. Note that the colour is not clear, distinct from the processed mastic used in confectionary. Sourced from L. Cornelissen & Son who have been traded in mastic and other rare resins since 1855 and supplied JMW Turner with the same.
Mastic is a resin obtained from the mastic tree. In Greece, it is known as tears of Chios, being traditionally produced on that Greek island, and, like other natural resins, is produced in “tears” or droplets.
